The National Cued Speech Association supports effective communication, language development and literacy between individuals, families, infants and children alike through the use of Cued Speech.
The Testing, Evaluation, and Certification Unit is responsible for establishing and maintaining national standards for the profession of cued language transliteration. These standards have developed as the product of extensive documentation and are unique in the field of communication facilitation services involving deaf/hard-of-hearing people. The TECUnit is also responsible for the certification of cued language transliterators at a national level via the Cued Language Transliterator National Certification Examination (CLTNCE).
Language is a fundamental human right. It is a right that Hearing people have always taken for granted. It is a right that Deaf people have not always been allowed. Our programs and materials are designed in light of this historical difference. At LMI we know that NOT every form of communication is language. At LMI we know that language is the quintessential human celebration.
